Previously, Jason was an attorney with Cooley Godward LLP, where he practiced corporate and securities law with an emphasis on representation of emerging companies in private and public financings, mergers and acquisitions.
Prior to his legal career, Jason was a senior consultant at Andersen Consulting (now Accenture) where he focused on financial institution re-engineering engagements.
As one of the first full-time in-house general counsel at a venture fund, Jason has been on the forefront of thought leadership and co-chairs the National Venture Capital Association's (NVCA) General Counsel group, as well as being an active participant on the NVCA's Chief Financial Officer group.
Jason is a nationally-known speaker on such topics as venture capital best practices, mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructurings, venture capital litigation and tax matters that affect venture capital firms and their portfolio companies.
Jason has gained notoriety as guest author on Brad Feld's blog (www.feld.com) with their widely-acclaimed venture term sheet, merger letters of intent and accounting pitfalls series.
Jason has consummated over $2 billion of venture capital investments, $5 billion in mergers and has extensive experience in fund formation, employment law and general litigation.
Jason has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and his Juris Doctorate from the University of Michigan. He has traveled to many parts of the United States and parts of Europe performing as a percussionist and is currently very active in the Boulder and Northern California music scenes. His other interests include sports, home remodeling and travel. |
