Jim graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) with an electrical engineering degree before spending four years with Hewlett-Packard working with digital signal processing instrumentation. Jim moved to the Silicon Valley where he spent six years as engineering manager and director of marketing for Structural Measurement Systems, a startup spin off of HP's Santa Clara Division, which was later acquired by public company, General Radio (GenRad). Jim then joined early stage Integrated Systems, Inc. (ISI) as the Marketing Manager for Real-Time CASE tools. ISI was acquired by Wind River Systems which later executed an IPO.
In 1992, Jim co-founded and was President of BusinessWorks, Inc., a Dallas-based early player in the electronic learning market. BusinessWorks was acquired by Attenza, Inc. in 2001. Jim then moved to Boulder, CO where he co-founded and was CEO of his second electronic learning company, Highest Mountain, Inc.
After the first hand experiencing the thrill of being involved with startup and early stage technology companies, in May of 2005, Jim has been named the Executive Director of CTEK Boulder where he looks forward to working closely with the Boulder business community, technology transfer out of the University of Colorado and assisting other entrepreneurs bringing innovative technologies to commercial viability.
